Bureau Services
Under the current financial climate, many organisations find themselves faced with a freeze on recruitment or are finding it increasingly difficult to attract the right levels of skill and experience required to manage their corporate mapping systems or support their GIS-users.
Salford GIS are able to provide regular scheduled on-site assistance to complement existing internal resources and help to meet these needs. Alternatively, we are flexible enough to be able to provide that little extra help on an ad-hoc basis with those one-off projects or deadlines that often arise.
One of our consultants has been providing
on-site support and effectively acting as Corporate GIS Manager to a local client for the past four years. Through the provision of one or two days per week we are able to co-ordinate and manage the use of their corporate mapping resource.
In addition to on-site assistance Salford GIS also provide a bureau mapping service. An increasing number of organisations are recognising the power of GIS in carrying out analysis work and the impact that map-based information can have in presenting the outcome of that analysis in a report or presentation.
Projects we have been involved in include:
- Catchment area analysis
- Drive-time predictions
- Hot-spot identification
- Census and life-style data comparison and mapping
- Mapping of Indices of Multiple Deprivation
The clients we provide these services to find it significantly more cost-effective to use an external resource such as Salford GIS for these ad-hoc projects. Compared to the alternative of recruiting and skilling up to the required level – the use of our bureau services provides an attractive option. Not only can we advise clients on data requirements, analysis capabilities and presentation options, we can also assist in data procurement and any necessary data validation and cleansing.
